Bluray Tuesday: Featuring Phantasm Collection, House:Two Stories and The Bye Bye Man

April 11th 2017

Bluray Tuesday is back! Some awesomeness hits shelves today for sure. The Phantasm collection is at the top of my list this week with new scans on all 5 films and new bonus material in a nice boxset. A must own for horror fans. Arrow Video releases House: Two Stories that includes the first two House films in a boxset with new scans and bonus features as well. Mediocre horror film The Bye Bye Man hits stores today with an unrated cut. The Overlook residents reviewed this when it was released in theaters. If you missed it check it out here. I've heard the unrated version is a step up so I just may give this another try. Supposedly the unrated cut has more gore. I don't think the original PG-13 had any blood at all even SPOILER: ( when someone is shot with a shotgun) END SPOILER. Severin brings us a few films this week with Dark Waters, The Other Hell and Cathy's Curse. And Scream Factory releases Demented today, which is one I've never heard of but it sounds interesting. Most of these were available at Monsterpalooza in Pasadena this past weekend at the studio's booths. So if you were there this weekend you may have grabbed them already. Let us know how the films are from Severin and Shout Factory, they're blind buys for me this week. So what will you be buying, renting or skipping this week? we look forward to hearing what you are adding to your collections. Until next week!

Phantasm Collection: Amazon - $79.99

Phantasm: The residents of a small town have begun dying under strange circumstances, leading young Mike (Michael Baldwin) to investigate. After discovering that the Tall Man (Angus Scrimm), the town's mortician, is killing and reanimating the dead as misshapen zombies, Mike seeks help from his older brother, Jody (Bill Thornbury), and local ice cream man Reggie (Reggie Bannister). Working together, they try to lure out and kill the Tall Man, all the while avoiding his minions and a deadly silver sphere.
Phantasm 2: Years after surviving his encounter with the sinister Tall Man (Angus Scrimm), Mike Pearson (James LeGros), now a mental patient, still has nightmares about the evil gaunt mortician. Upon being released from the institution, Mike and his friend Reggie (Reggie Bannister) set out to track down the Tall Man and end his murderous and macabre practices. Also involved is Liz Reynolds (Paula Irvine), a pretty young woman who has a psychic connection to both Mike and the Tall Man.
Phantasm 3: The evil alien known as the Tall Man (Angus Scrimm) has infiltrated the minds of Mike (A. Michael Baldwin) and Reggie (Reggie Bannister). The two friends embark on a journey to find and kill him, only to discover that he has destroyed town after town, leaving zombies in place of the living. Along the way, Mike and Reggie meet several characters who share their goal, including a murderous boy named Tim (Kevin Connors) and two young women who are excellent fighters.
Phantasm 4: With a hearse as his escape vehicle, Mike (A. Michael Baldwin) flees from the Tall Man (Angus Scrimm), who wants to enslave him as an undead servant. Along the way, he investigates the origins of his enemy. Elsewhere, Mike's friend Reggie (Reggie Bannister) searches for him in a variety of dimensions, all the while battling mysterious spheres, including the ones he's discovered in the breasts of his beautiful undead companion. The friends must stop the Tall Man before he destroys them all.
Phantasm 5: Small-town friends Reggie (Reggie Bannister), Mike (A. Michael Baldwin), and Jody (Bill Thornbury) continue in their quest to stop the evil, dimension-hopping schemes of The Tall Man (Angus Scrimm) and his armada of killer Sentinel Spheres. This time, the fight becomes a multi-dimensional battle across multiple timelines, alien planets and altered realities, where no less than the fate of Earth is on the line.
