The Lords of Salem

6 of 8 viewers "Liked" "Lords of Salem" (2012, USA)
Here's what the citizens of the Overlook Theatre had to say:

Lord Battle - "Lords is a perfect example of Rob Zombie as an auteur. I really loved this film, it felt like a metal homage to "The Shining" set to the pace of a Polanski film." - 5 Stars

Huntress - "Beautifully shot film that pays homage to several classics and refuses to tell you the whole story." - 5 Stars

Brewha - "This movie is visually entertaining. Rob Zombie comes back with a twisted & disturbing take on the salem witch trials." - 5 Stars

Johnny Ocelot - "Zombies foray into macabre psychedelia really struck a chord a dissonant, abstract, disturbing chord... it rings." - 4 Stars

Drumachine - "Jacobs Ladder meets Stanley Kubrick." - 5 Stars

Ice Giant - "I hate this movie. Pretentious for the sake of pretentious. Hearing how everyone loves it makes me hate it more." - 1 Star

Math Mage - "Rob Zombie succeeded in emulating Kubrick by creating a boring and unsatisfying film filled with deliberately obscure symbolism." - 1 1/2 Stars

The Great Hornito - "This is definitely Rob Zombies best movie. Disturbing and Haunting. The only complaint I have is that I wanted to see the nasty old witch hags be murdered slowly and brutally." - 4 Stars

The Overlook Theatre Final Rating*
Four stars is a pretty strong rating but if you look at the individual reviews you'll see how split people were. It should also be noted that after viewing the film I rambled about how there is more to this film than what you get from a first look. In fact I ranted so long that I feel the need to write it out on the blog but until then give the film a chance. Lords is very different from House/Rejects but this is an auteurs vision so pay attention and this film will reinforce your love for Zombie and his past films.

*Based on the star ratings turned in by character reviewers, others viewed and got to "Dislike" or "Like" but that does not effect the rating.
