Bluray Tuesday!

December 30th, 2014

Its the last Tuesday of 2014! we have had many horror related releases this year both new and older releases that was a great addition to the Bluray catalog. This week is very light for new releases but the month of January is packed with cool upcoming films to add to all of our collections. So Happy New Year to all our readers and thanks for checking out our blog. Stay tuned to some new things this coming year!

Tusk - Amazon - $14.99

When his best friend and podcast co-host vanishes in Canada, a young man joins forces with his friend's girlfriend and a former detective to search for him.
Tusk is a modern day Frankenstein type of flick i really enjoyed it. it has its slow moments but it didn't bug me much as i was tuned into this film. This is also intended to be a Kevin Smith trilogy called the True North Trilogy the second in the series is to be called Yoga-Hosers with Johnny Depp, his daughter Lilly-Rose  And Kevin Smith's Daughter Harley Quinn. The Third in the True North series is to be called Moose Jaws.

The Equalizer: Amazon - $18.99

Feature film version of the classic television show. A veteran covert operative who, seeking redemption for his dark deeds, quits a CIA-like agency and puts a classified advertisement in the paper that reads simply: "Got a problem? Odds against you? Call the Equalizer."
I just watched this last night and i really enjoyed it it has some slow burn moments but this film is really bad ass. It is more action then horror btw but is the only other main release this week i highly recommend this film nice kills too.

Santa's Scream Fest... Because Every Holiday has a Dark Side

Here's some good news for those of us who are feeling the post-Halloween blues: Fear Overload has decided to extend their bloody reach into December and are hosting 2 days of  Christmas horror this week! Tickets and information can be  found HERE. This even will run 12-19 and 12-20 7PM to 10PM.

Unfortunately, The Overlook Theatre didn't make it out to the Fear Overload Halloween nights, but we heard it was a lot of fun from several people who did. And if this is anything like the yuletide haunts that are happening in New York, this will be an awesome event. I know I'm excited!!

And for those who like to order their tickets online, enter FUNCHEAP35 at checkout to get $3 off tickets (thanks SF Fun Cheap!). Normally, they're be $18 online and $20 at the door. VIP tickets, which include front of the line passes and unlimited haunted house tours, are $30. Hope you guy can make it out!

The Babadook; A Brief but Hearty Update

Hello and happy Saturday! Hopefully all of you bay area residents made it through our recent Stormageddon, also known as #hellastorm, with minimal trouble. Personally, I just saw all the best sides of the rainy days and avoided driving whenever possible. I only saw pictures and footage of less fortunate situations. You would think that our dried up storm drains would have been able to handle the necessary liquid, but it just didn't work out that way. Anyway... onward!

For those of you who check out this blog on a regular basis know that the citizens of The Overlook Theatre were absolutely smitten with The Babadook without exception. Many of us were ecstatic to hear that the book featured in the film, a huge piece of the plot, was going to be available for preorder, contingent on 2000 orders. They gave people 60 days and reached their goal in about 2 weeks. There are 36 days left on the counter, so you can still grab your very own at HERE. Two days ago, it was announced that the director of this awesome movie decided to sign every copy of the book that is ordered. What!! That's an act of pure love and appreciation; the orders are currently at 2786.

But there's more to this update! Another of the Overlooks loves, The Balboa Theatre will be screening The Babadook for the next week! This is a small theatre with two screen, but they will have two showtimes each day at 5pm and 9:45pm, starting yesterday and ending on the 18th. There will definitely be an Overlook field trip to the Balboa to support and enjoy both of these gems, and all those in range should do the same! And those who are not in range of this particular theatre are still in luck. Check out the dates and locations here to see which theatres around the country will be hosting this film and when.

You can also follow Mister Babadook's facebook for more updates and fan art contest pictures. Enjoy!

Dead Snow 2: Amazon - $11.99

If the worst day of your life consisted of accidentally killing your girlfriend with an axe, chain-sawing your own arm off, and watching in horror as your closest friends were devoured by a zombified Nazi battalion, you'd have to assume that things couldn't get much worse. In Martin's case, that was only the beginning.
