Treasures From The ComiCombs Issue #42: Kill or Be Killed, Shipwreck, Cannibal

Welcome back for your weekly dose of comic books! October started off with some great titles and this week the wave of great books hasn’t slowed down. With so many awesome books hitting shelves this month I decided to double the amount of recommendations this week. If you think six is a lot, you should see my weekly pull list, but that’s a story for another time. So on to the books!

Kill or Be Killed #3 (Image)

If you’re a fan of Ed Brubaker you should have this on your pull list. If you haven’t picked up a book by the man yet you should definitely get on board with this title. This book has one of if not the best creative teams around and this is a book that sells out pretty fast so make sure to grab your copy!

Southern Cross #8 (Image)

After a wait that seemed like a lifetime, the second story arc for this book arrived last month and today we get issue #8. This new story arc features all new characters and expands on the world and mysteries from the first volume. This is one of those books I can nerd out on for days so I’ll end this by saying I urge you to pick up this series, you will thank me later.

Britannia #2 (Valiant)

The first issue of this limited series from Valiant really took me by surprise. This was a title I hadn’t read too much into as I thought it would be in the same vein as other books from Valiants roster of heroes. I was pleasantly surprised and am excited to pick up issue #2 today. Aside from some pretty spectacular cover art this series has a really cool story.

Reborn #1 (Image)

Image continues to dominate the market with the amount of stellar titles being released and this week we finally get our hands on the new title from the one and only Mark Millar. If Millar wasn’t enough to grab your attention, in charge of the art is Greg Capullo, who is coming off of a spectacular run of Batman. So if there’s someone to deliver some dark and moody art, Capullo is the man. This is a highly anticipated book so be sure to grab your copy if you see it.

Shipwreck #1 (Aftershock)

Warren Ellis is a legendary creator in the world of comics so when you see his name on a new book, don’t pass it up. Aftershock isn’t a publisher you want to pass on either, we’ve seen some quality books released with top tier talent so be sure to keep Aftershock on your radar and do yourself a favor by picking up Shipwreck #1.

Cannibal #1 (Image)

Last but not least we have Cannibal #1 from Brian Buccellato. Earlier this year I reviewed Sons of the Devil Vol.1 by Buccellato and, although it didn’t emerge victorious, it was a book worthy of a read. This new title sounds pretty great and I can’t wait to pick it up.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That wraps it up for this week. There’s plenty of books for you to check out this week so be sure and grab one, or if you’re like me, all of them from your local shop. Be sure to come back in two weeks, I’ll have more recommendations and I’ll be reviewing a few Halloween One-Shots to let you know which ones you should check out to get yourself ready for Halloween.
