Screenings in the Bay (Monday to Friday): Beyond the Gates, Crispin Glover Live, Supernatural Christmas Double Feature

Happy Monday everyone! We have a lot going on this weekend and it's all awesome. Unfortunately some things overlap, so we'll have to make some tough decisions. Oddly enough, Wednesday is the busiest day, with Super Shangri-La, Weird Wednesday, and a special live Drafthouse event all taking place. And who is the live event featuring? Why it's Crispin Glover!

We also have several limited releases opening this week, neither of which have been listed on theatre's calendars yet but my fingers are crossed. Both Beyond the Gates and Good Tidings are available on VOD if they are not playing near you. Now, on to the schedule!

In the wake of their father's mysterious disappearance, two estranged brothers -- responsible Gordon and reckless John -- reunite to sift through the contents of his stubbornly anachronistic VHS rental store. Among the inventory, they discover an interactive VCR board game, which their father viewed just before he vanished. Intrigued, the boys pop in the tape, press play, and soon discover that, far from an ordinary game, the video is a portal to a nightmarish alternate reality.

Crispin Glover Live

Wednesday 7th @ 7pm (1hr 24min)

Director Crispin Glover teams with screenwriter Steven C. Stewart for this surreal semi-autobiographical feature detailing cerebral palsy sufferer Stewart's remarkable life and many love affairs. A semi-sequel to Glover's shocking directorial debut, What Is It? (2005), It Is Fine! Everything Is Fine opens with Stewart lying helplessly on the hospital floor. As he is being transported back to his bed, Stewart embarks on an inward journey in which his suave charm proves irresistible to the ladies. Though his imaginary sexual conquests allow Stewart a welcome opportunity to live out his many erotic fantasies, the unshakable frustration of being an eternal outcast soon causes his actions to take an unexpectedly dark turn. It Is Fine! Everything Is Fine made its world premiere at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival.
