September 26th 2017
The last Bluray Tuesday of September arrives. This week is filled with many different kinds of films from slashers, zombies, sharks, aliens and even killer orgies, I'm sure there is something for everyone released today. First up is 47 Meters Down aka In The Deep which was released on DVD last year but then recalled on the release day so that they could release it in theaters a year later under a new name. Overall it's an interesting take on the survival horror genre with a deadly shark thrown in. 47 Meters Down is definitely a highlight of the week. Scream Factory releases The Devil's Candy finally on Bluray with a few bonus features. The Devil's Candy is a good blind buy as well one of the highlights of 2017 for sure. Severin releases The Devil's Honey for the first time on Bluray, it's an erotic thriller filled with torture. 2:22 is next up from Magnet releasing. I saw this a few months ago and I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you are into mystery thrillers with a touch of sci-fi, I'd give it a go. I'd recommend a rent on this first or Netflix. Zombie thriller It Stains The Sands Red is also a surprise for me. It kept me entertained from beginning to end and featured some cool gore and twists. I'm glad it got a Bluray release and not just DVD only. Flatliners gets a steelbook treatment released today. This is just in time for the remake which also hits theaters this Friday. Perfect time to add to your collection and revisit the original before seeing the remake this weekend. The biggest budget release today is Transformers: The Last Knight. This is the next unnecessary sequel in the Transformers franchise. I haven't seen the fourth one yet but if I find myself bored one day I may try to catch up. Best Buy will carry exclusive steelbooks for its standard and 4K copies. Target's exclusive comes with a Bluray bonus disc. So what will you be buying, renting or just skipping this week?
