August 2nd 2016
Our favorite day of the week returns and it's a hefty release week to start of the new month! There are lots of choices both new and old to add to our collections. Scream Factory has three releases today: eerie 70's classic Invasion of The Body Snatchers is added to their collector's edition line and is my number one pickup today. It's newly remastered and includes a few new bonus features. Scream Factory's other two releases are recent supernatural horror, The Binding and body changing creature horror, Bite. Indie drama which is also certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, The Lobster arrives on bluray today. I missed The Lobster in theaters and am looking forward to checking this one out soon. Viral, which was pushed back a bit, is finally going to be released. It's an interesting take on the zombie outbreak sub genre. I'd definitely say rent this one first before the purchase commitment. It's not a bad film but I feel it's a bit overpriced at the moment. The second main release I'm definitely looking to pick up this week is Batman The Killing Joke. I have been seeing mixed reviews on this film, but the graphic novel was really good and these DC animated films are really well done. Best Buy has an exclusive graphic novel packaged with The Killing Joke bluray and Target is carrying an in-store only limited steelbook edition.
