Welcome back to the ComiCombs! We start off July with a decent amount of good releases. There really aren’t many new #1’s being released today but there are definitely some awesome goodies to look forward to. The beginning of a new month also means two new books going up against each other. Read on to see what’s in store for this week.
Black Science #22 (Image)
Rick Remender has been giving us some strong books lately and Black Science is near the top on the list. One man’s selfishness and mistakes caused him to lose everything. With a new resolve, Grant McKay looks to set things right and get back what he lost. Issue #22 is a new jumping on point with the start of a new arc that promises something to “shake the world of Black Science to its very foundations.” With artwork by the very talented Matteo Scalera, this is a must buy.

Outcast #1 Artists Proof Edition (Image)
This is the issue that started it all. With a TV show now airing on Cinemax, this already popular book is seeing a major spike in popularity and the next book in Image's Artist Proof Series is Outcast #1. This new print is in an oversized 11X17 format in black and white inks. Paul Azaceta’s amazing artwork is something that shouldn’t be missed in this series and this is a great way to enjoy it on a completely different level.
Aliens Vampirella HC (Dynamite)
I definitely enjoyed this series and today Dynamite releases the HC version that collects the complete series. Two iconic horror franchises collide in this book and it’s every bit as enjoyable as it sounds. There are tons of cool panels in this book and there is no better way to enjoy it than in HC format so check it out!
Absolute Preacher Volume 1 HC (Vertigo)
A couple of weeks ago I reviewed a Hellblazer story written by Garth Ennis and loved it enough to add it on my top 5 reviewed list for the first half of this year. Preacher is the book that introduced me to Garth Ennis and made me fall in love with his writing. Preacher is another amazing book that has been given the TV show makeover airing on AMC. If you’re a fan of the show you will absolutely love the book. Collecting the first 26 issues of Preacher, this hardcover is one that any fan should own.

Every so often I need a break from reviewing books to organize the overflowing shelves in the ComiCombs. You can rejoice this week though because that break is over and we can finally get back to it! I have a large backlog of books waiting to be reviewed so this week I decided to just dive in and review two random books. This could turn out great or it could be a disaster so let’s get to know the two books I will be reviewing this week!
Nailbiter Volume One: There Will Be Blood (Image)
“Where do serial killers come from? And why has Buckaroo, Oregon given birth to sixteen of the most vile serial killers in the world? NSA Agent Nicholas Finch needs to solve that mystery in order to save his friend, and he'll have to team up with the infamous Edward 'Nailbiter' Warren to do it. JOSHUA WILLIAMSON and MIKE HENDERSON deliver a mystery that mixes Twin Peaks with the horror of Se7en!”
Revival Volume One: You’re Among Friends (Image)
“For one day in rural central Wisconsin, the dead came back to life. Now it's up to Officer Dana Cypress to deal with the media scrutiny, religious zealots, and government quarantine that has come with them. In a town where the living have to learn to deal with those who are supposed to be dead, Officer Cypress must solve a brutal murder, and everyone, alive or undead, is a suspect.”
So that’s it. Both of these books sound pretty good so I’m excited to kick off the second half of 2016 with these. Make sure to come back next week to see what I thought about these two books and find out which one gets a spot on the newly organized shelves of the ComiCombs. Don’t forget to pick up something awesome from your local shop and let me know what you’re reading!
