There are a lot of movies and events going on this weekend. Dare I say, almost too many... if there was such a thing. Here are a couple of notable ones:
Maps to the Stars - David Cronenberg's new film, which was playing at the Balboa the last time we talked, has moved to San Francisco's second oldest, still operational theatre, The Vogue Theatre. Somehow, this bay area gem has eluded me and I have never visited it, but now that it's on my radar it's only a matter of time.
San Jose Super Toy, Comic Book, & Collectible Show - This will be going on today and tomorrow at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. Special guests will be Linda Blair (Saturday only), Gigi Edgley (Saturday and Sunday), and Kyra Schon (Sunday only). And just in case you were thinking you couldn't find anything to satisfy your horror lust, there's a whole page dedicated to changing your mind at their site.
Hitchcock Double Feature - This is the last weekend of this amazing event, and Hitchcock intends to make the loudest exit ever. Today and tomorrow, you can see Psycho and The Birds side by side at the historic Stanford Theatre in Palo Alto. It's a bit of a drive from the immediate bay area, but it's a beautiful scenic one too. And this is bill is definitely worth it. Location and showtimes can be found at their site.
