Screenings in the Bay (Friday to Sunday): Stereo Argento: Complex!, The Conductor, Blood Fest

Don't waste any time this weekend and kick Friday night off with a giallo drag show at the Stud!

Yes that's right, Stereo Argento returns for its seventh installment, COMPLEX!, and there will definitely be blood! This night is Murder Mystery themed, so leave you black gloves at home, lest you be accused of treachery.

Also this week, BLOOD FEST opens in limited theatres and on VOD. I really enjoyed this movie, but not as much as some of the other Overlook creatures who joined the audience for our review screening. And if you just don't want to rent this one, you can catch it at Son Of Monsterpalooza in two weeks.

The Roxie will be hosting a one night only screening of THE CONDUCTOR, Jeremy Mann's first feature film, and he will be at the screening as well. He will be giving one lucky audience member a poster for the film, which has been signed by the entire cast and crew!

But 37 hours later and without a single lead, David decides to search the one place no one has looked yet, where all secrets are kept today: his daughter's laptop. In a hyper-modern thriller told via the technology devices we use every day to communicate, David must trace his daughter's digital footprints before she disappears forever.

Based on Bryan Lee O'Malley's Oni Press comic book of the same name, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World follows the eponymous slacker rocker on his colorful quest to defeat his dream girl's seven evil ex-boyfriends. Twenty-two-year-old Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) may not have a job, but rocking the bass for his band, Sex Bob-omb, is a tough job unto itself. When Scott locks eyes with Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), he knows she's the girl he wants to grow old with. But Ramona has some serious baggage; her supercharged exes rue the thought of her being with another man, and they'll crush any guy who gives her a second glance. Now, in order to win Ramona's heart, Scott will do battle with everyone from vegan-powered rock gods to sinister skateboarders, never losing sight of his gorgeous goal as he pummels his way to victory.

Madeline (newcomer Helena Howard) has become an integral part of a prestigious physical theater troupe. When the workshop's ambitious director (Molly Parker) pushes the teenager to weave her rich interior world and troubled history with her mother (Miranda July) into their collective art, the lines between performance and reality begin to blur. The resulting battle between imagination and appropriation rips out of the rehearsal space and through all three women's lives.
