Treasures From The ComiCombs: Mother Panic, Violent Love, Evil Dead 2: Revenge of Krampus

Welcome back for another dose of comics to feed that growing appetite. This week we see a fair amount of new #1s and a few returning favorites. As the year comes closer to an end we start to compile our top lists. 2016 has been a pretty big year for publishers as we’ve seen some pretty big continuity changes within the shared universe of each of the big two. On the other hand, Image continues to release a large number of great creator owned books. This week makes the decision for top publisher a bit tougher as there’s a pretty nice mix of recommendations. I would love to hear what everyone has been reading this year and what your top lists contain, but first on to the picks for this week!

Cannibal #2 (Image)

First up this week is Cannibal #2. Still a new book that has yet to prove itself among the ever growing list of titles from Image, Cannibal is shaping up to have a nice run. It’s still early in the life of the series so be sure jump on!

Mother Panic #1 (DC/Young Animal)

Earlier this year DC introduced an all new imprint, Young Animal. This new imprint looks to take more of an experimental approach to storytelling than most DC fans are used to. The newest title comes in the form of Mother Panic. This one might make it a bit easier for DC fans to transition into the new imprint, as it takes place in the familiar Gotham City. Though it sounds similar to a certain hero from Gotham, Mother Panic promises something completely different.

Violent Love #1 (Image)

I’m not the biggest fan of romance books; I like my romance to be buried under a few layers of space exploration or demonic possessions and a bit of blood here and there. Violent Love looks to be a bit more straightforward than the previous picks and a crime/romance book is one I can get behind. Image has had few misses this year so I’m pretty excited to see what this book has to offer.

Invincible Iron Man #1 (Marvel)

Earlier this year, Marvel brought us the All New All Different lineup following the amazing Secret Wars event. Rising from the ashes of the much delayed Civil War II event, which still hasn’t seen a conclusion, Marvel is ditching the All New All Different title and going back to Marvel Now. This new Invincible Iron Man title is a very big change and a very big deal for Marvel as Tony Stark is no longer Iron Man. It seems to be split down the middle with those who are excited for this and those who are unhappy. Regardless of which of those sides you’re on you don’t want to miss the debut of Riri Williams as she steps into her very own Iron Man armor.

Evil Dead 2: Revenge of Krampus One Shot (Space Goat Publishing)

This book needs no explanation, one look at this cover and you will want to pick it up. This year has seen many different adventures for Ash and they have all been just as entertaining as you would expect, so expect no less from this one. I can’t wait to  read it.

Well that does it for this week. Be sure to pick up at least one of these books from your local shop.  And be back in another two weeks for even more great titles to pick up!
