Bluray Tuesday Featuring: Thirteen Ghosts, Graveyard Shift & The Outsider

Our favorite day of the week returns! First up this week from Scream Factory is Thirteen Ghosts. I've been wanting to watch this so I'm excited it's getting an updated release. A must buy for me. Stephen King releases are the theme this week with Graveyard Shift and miniseries The Outsiders, both of which I'm also looking forward to adding to my collection. Rounding out the week is The Tenant, Dead Dicks which I'd highly recommend and Wonder Woman The Complete Series for the first time on Bluray. So what will you buy, rent or skip  this week? Thirteen Ghosts: Amazon - $28.99

Horror Games in ISOLATION #1: Observer, Stifled, Little Nightmares, Dead Space

For years, people have been telling us we should incorporate horror games in the Overlook in some capacity, and the day has finally arrived that we take that suggestion. Lord Battle and I (Huntress) have teamed up with the Barely Functional Gamers duo (Panda Dojo and Eddie the Gamer Ghoul) to develop ISOLATION, the goal of which is to turn the experience of solo horror games into a community one. Unsuspecting victims will be lead to the confines of isolation to play a horror game for our voyeuristic pleasure, as we sit back and watch them squirm. We can hear them but they can't hear a thing 😈 

Our trial run is linked below, and you should definitely check out the games we tried out. Each one looked great and had at least one uniquely memorable quality. 

We're planning to do these every Thursday at 8pm PST. If you wanna watch it live and jump in the chat, you can check out BFG on Twitch.

Bluray Tuesday Featuring: Scoob!, Castle Rock Season 2 & The Room

Bluray Tuesday creeps up once more. First up this week is Scoob! I loved Scooby Doo growing up and I'm excited to own this reboot. Next up is Shudder exclusive psychological / supernatural thriller, The Room (2019) hitting Bluray. This was an interesting film and I enjoyed it overall, will definitely add to the collection. Hulu original series Castle Rock (Season Two) hits shelves this week sadly no 4K release like its first season but I'm looking forward to binging this season. Rounding out the week is Clueless 25th anniversary steelbook, Marriage Story on Criterion and Bloodstone from Arrow Video. What will you buy, rent or skip this week? Let us know in the comments. Now the husband and his Indian friend (played by a famous Tamil Indian actor) must go out to save the wife. But along the way, they are confronted with many challenges, like the Indian bad guys who steal the ruby from them! Overall a great movie, especially if you've ever been to Tamil India! And even if you haven't, here's your chance to see what an American action movie can be like when filmed on the other side of the world!

Greyranger's Thoughts on LA Found Footage, FOLLOWED

Followed was the second to closing night film during the second year of the Unnamed Footage Festival, and it left its mark on this theatre-goer:

The notorious and oft-clicked vlogger DropTheMike has made his name investigating, exploring, dissing, and debunking an assortment of urban legends on the internet. In a bid for a sweet sponsorship, Mike and his friends bring their gear to the reportedly haunted Hotel Lenox, where they have been challenged to spend the night and get on cam the horrors within. 

Its Los Angeles settings keenly depicted and felt, Followed is certainly the most mainstream-looking and feeling movie that screened in UFF2. That sense of craft extends to the areas where it counts: Todd Klick’s more-than-solid script steadily moves from a probably-nothing encounter to a legit haunting to no-one-will-get-out-alive; the Hotel Lenox has an evocative and tangible history (which more than borrows from the real-life case of Elisa Lam). Matthew Solomon is perfectly annoying as Mike, and is deft in showing us the differences between his on- and off-camera persona (and leans beautifully into the moments where Mike’s cynical worldview gets totally blown). 

It’s familiar found footage territory, but it’s smartly traveled; we have contended that found footage is an ideal genre for a filmmaker’s debut, and first-time director Antoine Le both nails the familiar beats and fleshes out the details between them.
