Screenings in the Bay (Monday to Friday): Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich, Motel Hell, The Frozen Ghost

We have a lot to look forward to this week! Monday is the only quiet day we have this week, and that's only because They Live sole out at the Alamo Drafthouse. But you can still get tickets for tomorrow's Terror Tuesday presentation of Motel Hell, which I'm very excited to rewatch. It has one of the best chainsaw fights, an awesome catch phrase, and some iconic characters. From there, we jump into the Super Shangri-La Show's Wax Museum Double Feature at the Balboa Theatre! This night will consist of 1945's The Frozen Ghost, followed by the 1953 House of Wax, all starting at 7:30pm.
Then, on the new releases side of things, Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich is out at the end of the week, but if you're in the city, you may be stuck watching this on VOD for the time being. And finally, Down A Dark Hall comes to limited theatres and to VOD on Friday. Although, from the looks of it, I'm more interested in the book it was inspired by.

People come from far and wide to sample Farmer Vincent's distinctively flavored dried, smoked sausages, but one might well ask why there are so few people staying at his nearby motel. This horror comedy provides the graphic answer.

Two gorgeous women -- Donna (Dona Speir) and Taryn (Hope Marie Carlton) -- operate a airplane cargo delivery service in Hawaii. Their latest shipment includes a very large, very nasty snake destined for the local zoo. But the delivery is interrupted when they stumble on a cache of diamonds that were to go to a ruthless drug dealer, Seth (Rodrigo Obregon). Seth sends a transvestite to kidnap the owner of a restaurant, Edy (Cynthia Brimhall), so his men can torture her with a female bodybuilder into revealing where Donna and Taryn are. Luckily for all the good guys, Special Agent Rowdy Abilene (Ronn Moss) has a bazooka, and he knows how to use it. And unluckily for Seth, that nasty snake has broken out of its box.

A Wax Museum Double Feature

Wednesday 15th @ 7:30pm (1hr 1min)

An installment from Universal's "Inner Sanctum" series (whose trademark featured an introduction narrated by a spooky disembodied head), this low-budget thriller stars Lon Chaney, Jr. as luckless stage hypnotist "Gregor the Great" who, after seemingly causing the death of one of his audience volunteers, is forced to go into hiding. He is eventually offered a job by Rudi Poldan (Martin Kosleck), assistant curator of a wax museum. This apparent stroke of good fortune is actually part of a nefarious scheme concocted by Gregor's sleazy manager (Milburn Stone), with whose assistance Rudi hopes to drive the unbalanced performer off the deep end and steal away his girlfriend (Evelyn Ankers).
